Arnold Police arrested a 28-year-old St. Louis man following a brief struggle when officers attempted to apprehend him due to a felony warrant issued in Illinois. The officers also allegedly found suspected illegal drugs on the man, police reported.

At about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 22, officers saw the man in the 500 block of Jeffco Boulevard and recognized him as being wanted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. When the officers attempted to detain the man, he allegedly ignored them when he was told take remove his hands from his pockets and lay on the ground, the report said.

The man allegedly continued to back away from the officers, but he was arrested following a short physical confrontation. No injuries were reported.

After arresting the man, officers found a small bag on a lanyard around the man’s neck. The bag allegedly had 55 capsules that contained what was believed to be fentanyl and two other pills suspected of containing controlled substances, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
