A 38-year-old St. Louis man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine after he reportedly tried to return more than $1,300 worth of stolen tools to the Arnold Lowe’s store, 920 Arnold Commons Drive. The incident happened about 4:50 p.m. Dec. 16, Arnold Police reported.

Police were called to the store after the man tried to return DeWalt tools and a Lincoln mig welder. The items, which were valued at $1,385, allegedly had been stolen, the report said.

When officers arrived, they found the man in a 2000 Chevrolet Trailblazer, and he allegedly provided a false name. Then, when officers searched him, they allegedly found a folded piece of paper in his wallet that contained a substance believed to be meth, according to the report.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where his real name was discovered. Police also found out he was wanted on a warrant from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for burglary, the report said

He was booked and held for St. Louis Police. Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing, possession of a controlled substance and providing false information, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
