The Arnold Police arrested a man, who previously had been deported to Mexico after being convicted of a felony in the U.S., and a woman, who later allegedly attacked an officer in the department’s jail, following a traffic stop, police reported.
An officer stopped a 2012 Honda Accord on April 3 on Hwy. 141 near Old Lemay Ferry Road after an alleged traffic violation. A 36-year-old man, who was driving the car, switched seats with a man in the passenger seat before the officer approached the Accord, the report said.
The man who moved to the passenger seat allegedly provided false identifying information to the police. A detective learned the man had been deported and was wanted in Jackson County, Ind., on a warrant, according to the report.
The other man who had moved to the driver’s seat was not arrested, the report said.
The other passenger, a 36-year-old Hillsboro woman, was arrested because she was wanted by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office on an active felony warrant, according to the report.
Both were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and held. However, the woman became irate and combative while at the Arnold Police Department Jail, and she kicked a detective on the upper body, the report said.
The man was held pending extradition to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, and the woman was held for the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.
Arnold Police will seek a charge against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for assaulting a law enforcement officer, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
