Arnold Police used a stun gun on a 25-year-old Bonne Terre man when he allegedly refused to get out of a car parked outside the Quality Inn and Suites, 3610 W. Outer Road. The man was found asleep in the car, which had been reported stolen, according to police.

At about 12:30 a.m. April 10, police got a call that the man was asleep in the passenger seat of a 2011 Ford Fusion, and when officers arrived, they were unable to wake up the man by knocking on the window. The man also did not wake when Rock Community Fire Protection District personnel activated one of their vehicle’s lights and sirens, so Arnold Police asked the firefighters to open the car door, the report said.

After the door was opened, the man woke up and moved over to the driver’s seat. Officers determined the Fusion had been reported stolen on April 4 in St. Louis County, and they used a stun gun to subdue the man and arrest him, according to the report.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, and after he was examined, he was taken to Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro because he was wanted for a felony probation and parole violation, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering, receiving a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
