Arnold Police are seeking charges against a 58-year-old Arnold man suspected of stealing tools that belong to a mechanic who was repairing a car wash at a Phillips 66 gas station. The suspect had been convicted of at least three other stealing charges in the past 10 years, making the latest reported theft a felony offense, police said.

The victim, a 53-year-old House Springs man reported his tools were stolen on June 30 when he was repairing the car wash at 3910 Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold. The tools were worth $498, the report said.

Surveillance video allegedly showed the suspect taking the tools that were outside the car wash. Officers who viewed the video were able to identify the man from previous encounters, according to the report.

As of July 19, none of the stolen tools had been recovered, and the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office had not issued stealing charges against the suspect, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. However, he said Arnold Police will seek felony charges against the suspect because of the man’s prior stealing convictions.
