Darrell Dillon Jr., 48, of Arnold died after he was struck by three vehicles Sunday night (April 28) as he attempted to cross the southbound I-55 exit at Hwy. 141, Arnold Police reported.

Dillon was hit at about 9:10 p.m. by a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu, a 2017 Honda Accord and a 2007 Lincoln Continental as the vehicles were exiting southbound I-55, the report said.

Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said police don’t know why Dillon was walking across the exit ramp, adding that the accident was still under investigation as of this afternoon (April 29).

After Dillon was struck by the vehicles, all three drivers remained at the scene of the accident, Wooldridge said.

He said there were no reports of injuries to the drivers.

Dillon was first struck by the Malibu, which was driven by an Arnold man. Then the Accord, which was driven by an Arnold woman, hit him, and lastly, the Continental, which was driven by a Greenbrier, Ark., man struck him, the report said.

Names and ages of the drivers were not being released since the detective bureau continues to investigate the incident, Wooldridge said.

The Malibu had significant damage to its front end and windshield, and the other two vehicles had minor damage, according to Wooldridge.
