Leon W. Stoutt, 33, of Arnold has been charged with allegedly robbing the Midwest BankCentre, 1030 Imperial Main St., on Monday (Jan. 30), according to court records.
At 2:42 p.m., Stoutt allegedly walked up to a teller and demanded money and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported today (Feb. 1) in a written statement.
After the robbery, the Sheriff’s Office got a photograph of the suspect from surveillance footage, shared it with the media and posted it on social media and then received numerous tips, which helped identify Stoutt as the suspect, the Sheriff’s Office reported today (Feb. 1) in a written statement.
Stoutt was taken into custody on Monday, and on Tuesday (Jan. 31), authorities recovered the stolen money, as well as other evidence, which was seized, the report said.
Also on Tuesday, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Stoutt with one count of stealing, a class D felony punishable by up to four years in prison.
Stoutt is being held today in the Jefferson County Jail on a $4,000 bond.
