A 62-year-old Arnold man was arrested after he reportedly was spotted speeding on Church Road and led an Arnold Police officer on a short pursuit. The man allegedly reached a speed of 87 mph in a 35-mph zone, police reported.
At about 9 a.m. Feb. 9, the officer saw the man driving a Chevrolet Impala at a high rate of speed on Old Lemay Ferry Road toward Church Road. When the man turned right from Old Lemay Ferry onto Church, the car’s tires squealed and the car slid on the road before the man proceeded toward Jeffco Boulevard, the report said.
The officer turned on his cruiser’s lights and sirens and tried to pull over the driver, who allegedly continued speeding on Church Road before turning right onto Jeffco. The officer followed the car south on Jeffco until the man stopped near Dohack Drive, according to the report.
The driver was arrested for resisting arrest and was given seven citations to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for traffic violations. The man did not tell the officer why he was driving so fast or why he didn’t stop for the cruiser, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
