A 46-year-old Arnold man has been arrested for allegedly pointing an unloaded shotgun at a 28-year Arnold man and threatening to kill him during an argument at a home in the 1300 block of Apollo Drive in Arnold. The incident happened about 6:45 p.m. Jan. 25, after the 28-year-old went to the suspect’s home, along with a 42-year-old woman and 6-year-old girl, Arnold Police reported.
The 28-year-old man reportedly was in a relationship with the woman, who previously had been in a relationship with the 46-yer-old man, and the three adults started to argue for an unknown reason. During the argument, the 46-year-old allegedly went to the basement and got a shotgun, the report said.
When the suspect came upstairs, he allegedly pointed the gun at the 28-year-old’s face and threatened to shoot him. At that point, the alleged victim, woman and girl left the home, according to the report.
An officer went to the home, and the 46-year-old resident allegedly said he did get the gun because the 28-year-old had threatened him. The suspect also said he did not point the gun at anyone during the argument, according to the report.
The 46-year-old was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said the department will seek charges against the suspect through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.
