A 26-year-Arnold man was arrested Oct. 5 after he allegedly spit in a woman’s face while she was stopped at a red light at Hwy. 141 and Jeffco Boulevard in Arnold. The man was arrested at a home in the 2600 block of Jere Lane after the woman reported the incident, Arnold Police said.
A 40-year-old Arnold woman called police at 2 p.m. after the man reportedly followed her from I-55 to the intersection. She said she was preparing to exit the interstate at Hwy. 141 and had to move over a lane before going up the exit ramp because a vehicle had stopped on the interstate’s shoulder. The woman said when she changed lanes, she did not see any vehicles approaching. However, after changing lanes, she said a 2018 Nissan NV2500 van quickly approached her from behind and traveled closely behind her car, the report said.
The van reportedly followed her after she got onto Hwy. 141, and when she stopped at a red light at Jeffco Boulevard, the man driving the van started honking his horn. She said the man then got out of the van and approached her, according to the report.
The woman recorded the incident on her cell phone, and when the man saw she was recording, he allegedly tried to take the phone but failed to get the phone away from her. Then, the man allegedly yelled at the woman and as she was rolling up her window, he allegedly spit in her face, the report said.
The woman called 911, and she followed the van to a home on Jere Lane. She met with an officer away from where the van was parked and told the officer where to find the van, according to the report.
Police found the man in the home, arrested him and took him to the Police Station, where he was booked and released. Arnold Police issued the man a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for fourth-degree assault, Capt. Rich Shular said.
