A 36-year-old Arnold man was arrested after he allegedly left his 1-year-old son unattended in a locked car outside the Dierbergs grocery store, 860 Arnold Commons Drive. The child was in the car for about five to 10 minutes and was unharmed, Arnold Police reported.

Officers were called at about 9:30 a.m. June 18 to the grocery store after several customers told an employee about the child in the car. The father came out of the store shortly after police arrived, the report said.

The man said he forgot his son was in the car, according to the report.

Medical personnel examined the child, who was then released to his mother, Arnold Police reported.

The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released with a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Arnold Police also reported the incident to the Division of Family Services, Maj. Clinton Wooldridge said.
