A 49-year-old Arnold man was arrested for reportedly assaulting his girlfriend at a home on Starling Airport Road. The man allegedly hit the woman in the multiple times, including in the head and face, and choked her, and she ended up with a cut on one of her hands, Arnold Police Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
The victim, a 47-year-old woman, reportedly tried to leave the house at one point, but the man pulled her back in, Valentine said.
At about 3:45 p.m. May 17, a third party called Arnold Police about fighting going on at the couple’s home. Police arrived and at first, no one answered the door. However, the woman eventually answered and told police she didn’t come to the door earlier because her boyfriend said he would kill her if she did, Valentine said.
The man already was wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the report said.
Initially, the man allegedly refused to cooperate with Arnold Police and refused to stand up and put his hands behind his back. However, officers threatened to use a stun gun on the man, and he complied and was taken into custody, Valentine said.
The suspect was taken to the Police Station, booked and after 12 hours, released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree assault and kidnapping, Valentine said.
