man in handcuffs

A 40-year-old Arnold man was arrested for allegedly hitting and knocking out a 58-year-old Cedar Hill man during an argument in a restaurant parking lot. The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26 outside the 54th Street Bar and Grill, 2236 Michigan Ave., Arnold Police reported.

The argument began after the Cedar Hill man came out of the restaurant and got into a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado. The man’s wife could not get into the passenger side, so he started to back out of the parking spot to allow her more room to get into the pickup, the report said.

While the Cedar Hill man started pulling out of the parking spot, the Arnold man approached the spot, driving a 2020 Ford F-150, and reportedly began yelling at the Cedar Hill man. Then, the two got out of their vehicles and started arguing in the parking lot, according to the report.

The Arnold man allegedly head-butted the Cedar Hill man, hitting him on the nose and forehead. Then, the Arnold man went into the restaurant but came back out because the victim’s wife was yelling at him, Arnold Police reported.

During the second argument, the Arnold man allegedly punched the Cedar Hill man in the face, and he lost consciousness and hit his head on the ground. The victim was transported to Mercy South Hospital in south St. Louis County, the report said.

Cpl. Brett Ackermann said it appears the victim was still unconscious when he was transported to the hospital, and Arnold Police did not have an update on the man’s condition as of March 3.

The Arnold man left the restaurant parking lot after allegedly punching the victim. However, officers spotted the F-150 on Jeffco Boulevard and stopped the pickup near Hickory Manor. The Arnold man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek a charge against the Arnold man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree assault against, Ackermann said.
