A 26-year-old Arnold man turned himself into police the day after he allegedly assaulted his 52-year-old father. The alleged assault occurred just after midnight Feb. 7 at a home in the 1800 block of South Arlene Drive, Arnold Police reported.
Both men reportedly had been drinking before the suspect allegedly began arguing with his father about how he treated his wife – the suspect’s mother. The argument reportedly turned physical, and the 26-year-old allegedly hit his father in the face multiple times, the report said.
The older man reportedly ended up with a 2-inch cut near his left eye socket. Rock Township Ambulance personnel treated the victim at the scene, but he refused transportation to a hospital, according to the report.
Before police arrived, the suspect had left in a 2016 Dodge Caravan. At about 10:30 a.m. Feb. 8, an officer saw the van parked outside the home, but the suspect was not there. The officer told the mother police were searching for her son, and at about noon the same day, the suspect turned himself in at the Arnold Police Station, according to the report.
The man was arrested, booked and released. Arnold Police will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for third-degree assault, Capt. Rich Shular said.
