Festus Police recently got a call about a man having a seizure outside the Chip’s 66 gas station and convenience store. Officers ended up arresting the 30-year-old Arnold man for allegedly stealing items from the store, 1245 American Legion Drive, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said the incident occurred about 6:45 p.m. Aug. 14. After officers responded to the call to help Joachim-Plattin Ambulance with the medical emergency, they learned the man who was having the seizure had several items from the store on him but had not paid for the items, Lewis said.
“They were checking him out, trying to find if he had any drugs on him that may have caused the seizure,” Lewis said. “He was taken to a hospital for treatment. He later admitted to stealing the items.”
Lewis said the stolen items included several small whisky bottles.
“The clerk inside had not seen him take anything,” Lewis said.
After the suspect was treated at the hospital, he was arrested and released pending application for warrants, Lewis said.
