A 45-year-old Arnold man was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after trying to elude Arnold Police. He was arrested following a short vehicle pursuit, police reported.
Officers reportedly saw the man driving a 1996 Jeep Cherokee with its lights off at about 9:45 p.m. March 27 on Jeffco Boulevard, and police checked the license plate on the SUV and learned it was registered to a Ford passenger car. Police attempted to stop the suspect after he turned onto Starling Airport Road, but he allegedly did not pull over, the report said.
Officers, with their patrol vehicle lights on, followed the SUV on Starling Airport Road, and another officer pulled into the intersection of Starling Airport Road and Potomac Drive to stop the Jeep. The driver allegedly tried to drive around the cruiser, but he could not navigate around a stop sign and stopped, according to the report.
The driver was arrested, and police allegedly found a burnt, hand-rolled cigarette and a glass smoking pipe with residue on it in the Jeep’s center console. They also allegedly found a cigarette pack with a small glass pipe and a bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be meth, police reported.
The man was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
