A 31-year-old Arnold man was arrested and then taken to the hospital after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a knife and threatened to kill himself. The incident happened Dec. 21 at a home in the 2300 block of Tenbrook Road, Arnold Police reported.

Police were called to the home at 7:23 p.m. after the man allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old Imperial woman. The woman said the suspect smacked her in the face, pushed her to the ground and held a knife to her throat. The woman had facial injuries but did not require medical attention, the report said.

The man also allegedly pointed a shotgun at his head and threatened to commit suicide. When police arrived, they located the suspect in the home’s garage and arrested him. He was taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and then transported to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation, according to the report.

Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.

The man also was wanted on warrants from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Louis County and St. Ann police departments, the report said.
