A 29-year-old Arnold man turned himself into police the day after he ran from officers who were investigating a call about loud motorcycles speeding through a mobile home community on Starling Airport Road, Arnold Police reported.
Arnold Police received the complaint around 11:45 p.m. March 4, and when officers arrived, they saw a motorcycle next to a 2009 Pontiac G8 at the entrance of the community, but the motorcycle sped away. The Pontiac was idling loudly because of engine modifications and after-market work to the exhaust system, the report said.
Officers checked the car’s license plate and discovered it was not registered to the car. The officers turned on their emergency lights, and the driver got out of the Pontiac and started recording the officers with his cell phone and demanded to know why he was being stopped, according to the report.
Officers reportedly smelled alcohol on the man’s breath, and after the driver refused to provide his driver’s license, the officers said they were arresting him. The man then allegedly ran from the officers, the report said.
One of the officers tried to stop the fleeing man with a stun gun, and he stumbled but continued to run from police. The officers stopped chasing the man, and the Pontiac was towed from the scene, according to the report.
The man already was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant.
He was arrested March 5 when he went to K and K Car Repair in Arnold to turn himself in and claim the Pontiac, which had been towed there. He was issued summonses to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for resisting arrest, failure to comply with an officer, displaying a plate of another vehicle and driving without insurance, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
