Arnold Police are seeking charges against a 33-year-old Arnold man for allegedly calling in a bomb threat against Fox High School on Sept. 7. The man allegedly robbed someone at the Pleasant View Motel, 4301 Jeffco Blvd., just south of Arnold earlier that morning and called in the fake threat to distract authorities, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.

As of Oct. 4, the suspect was being held in police custody in Bonne Terre on unrelated charges, Wooldridge said.

The suspect reportedly called 911 just before 7 a.m. Sept. 7 and said he was going to enter the high school and detonate an explosive device, the report said. As a result, the Fox High, Fox Middle and Fox Elementary school buildings were evacuated and classes at those three schools were canceled that day.

The high school was searched and no explosives were found.

Wooldridge said Arnold Police received tips about the suspect’s identity after he allegedly told people about making the bomb threat.

Arnold Police have interviewed the suspect and will seek a felony charge against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for making a terroristic threat.
