scam alert

Police are investigating a phone scam that cost the Lion’s Choice restaurant in Arnold $962.49. After allegedly receiving a call from a scammer, a night manager at the restaurant, 943 Jeffco Blvd., purchased gift cards and gave the person the numbers from the cards, Arnold Police reported.

The alleged scammer called the restaurant between 7-9 p.m. April 6, claimed to work for the Lion's Choice corporation and told the night manager to purchase Money Pak cards with cash from the store’s register and then provide the caller with the numbers on the cards. The manager reported the scam on April 8, the report said.

As of April 12, none of the money had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. He asks anyone who has received a similar call to contact Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
