A Jefferson County judge has revoked a St. Louis man’s probation for a second time and ordered the man to serve a five-year prison sentence. Archie Smith, 45, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance, court documents show.
Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Brenda Stacey on Aug. 26 revoked Smith’s probation and executed two five-year sentences. The sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time, court records said.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Lindsay Whalen prosecuted the case.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, an Arnold Police officer in July 2020 stopped a 2002 Dodge Ram that Smith was driving in the area of Astraway and Hwy. 141 because the pickup didn’t have license plates. Smith was seen leaning over the center console as an officer approached him.
Smith told the officer he had put a bag of fentanyl in the center console. The officer found 42 pills and 20 Xanax bars in the console, and Smith also had $1,100 in his pocket, the report said.
When the Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substances found in the pickup, it tested positive for fentanyl and Alprazolam, according to the report.
Smith pleaded guilty to the drug charges in October 2022, but his sentence was suspended and he was placed on five years’ probation. However, that probation was revoked in March 2024, but Smith completed a treatment program and was placed back on probation, court records show.
