A 33-year-old Antonia man allegedly stole a car in Imperial that he later crashed in High Ridge. He was arrested by the Missouri State Highway Patrol for suspicion of driving while intoxicated following the accident, authorities reported.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called on June 23 to a home in the 4000 block of Sweetgum Drive in Imperial by a woman who said the man stole her 2012 Ford Fusion. She said the man took the car without permission the day before, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The Highway Patrol reported that later on June 23, a trooper responded to a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Old Sugar Creek Road and Reuter Hills Lane. The man, who was driving the Fusion, was arrested for suspicion of DWI and transported to the Jefferson Conty Jail in Hillsboro, the report said.
The Leader is not naming the man because no charges had been filed against him as of July 2.
