Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said a pair of thieves made off with some tools from a home in the 400 block of Richard Street. However, they failed in their attempt to also steal a motorcycle.
The incident happened Aug. 14, and the victim, a 21-year-old man, reported the thefts at about 5:30 a.m. that day, Lewis said.
“The victim came home and saw his white Yamaha motorcycle lying in the street,” Lewis said. “He investigated his property and noticed some tools missing.
“Two men wearing gloves and masks were caught on camera. They tried to take the motorcycle up a hill. It was too steep.”
The tools were valued at about $50. As of Aug. 25, they had not been recovered, Lewis said.
He said no suspects had been identified either. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
