The Stockham’s Gas Mart convenience store, 11845 Hwy. CC, south of Festus recently was burglarized, and about $300 in Newport cigarettes were stolen. However, it will cost the victim more to repair damage to a window, which was estimated at $500, than to replace the stolen items, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called to the store at 12:02 a.m. Aug. 12, after “multiple alarms” sounded. When deputies arrived, they found a side window to the building broken, the report said.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said Sept. 3 that the stolen items had not been recovered and no arrests had been made. He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
