Eureka Police are searching for a pickup that allegedly was used to steal 24 truck wheels from Dobbs Tire and Auto Center, 1299 W. Fifth St. The pickup, a white Dodge Ram, has vertical scratches on the passenger-side tailgate and bumper, police reported.
A man reportedly could be seen on video surveillance stealing the wheels, which were valued at $4,000 and were being stored on a flatbed trailer behind the Dobbs store. The company had separated the wheels from the tires for Gateway Car Connection, an auto dealership in Eureka, the report said.
The Ram allegedly was seen in surveillance video at about 10 p.m. Nov. 14 near where the wheels were stored, and a man was seen getting out of the pickup and loading wheels into the truck before driving away. The man in the same pickup returned just before midnight and man allegedly stole the rest of the wheels from the trailer, according to the report.
As of Nov. 19, none of the wheels had been recovered, and neither the man nor the pickup seen in video surveillance had been located, Lt. Michael Werges said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
