Planet Overstock in Eureka.

Planet Overstock is located at 101 Hilltop Village Center Drive off West Fifth Street in Eureka.

Planet Overstock is expected to open at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, in Eureka, owner Trey Miller said.

The store, which sells items from major retailers at discounted prices, will be at 101 Hilltop Village Center Drive off West Fifth Street.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Miller of Imperial. “I hope everyone in the area is just as excited as we are. We’re going to come to Eureka with a bang.”

The first 300 customers during the grand opening event will receive a free cookie provided by Taylor Made Treats of St. Louis. Customers may post pictures of the cookie on Facebook or Instagram and tag the Planet Overstock – Eureka page to be entered into a random drawing to receive a $100 gift card at the overstock store.

Miller said Planet Overstock has more than 200 pallets of overstock products waiting to be delivered to the Eureka location. He said his business typically sells items for approximately 50 percent less than the original cost.

“Not everything is 50 percent off, but a good portion is,” Miller said. “We have a really big repeat customer base, and I think that just goes to show the deals and the quality of products that we get in.”

Planet Overstock offers a 100 percent money-back guarantee on all products within 30 days of purchase with a receipt, Miller said.

“This is big in this industry as some items are new, shelf pulls, online returns, etc., so we fully stand behind everything we sell at every location,” he said.

Planet Overstock began in 2021. Miller’s family grocery store, Foodland, fell on hard times during the COVID pandemic, he said, and the family looked for other opportunities to generate revenue.

After clearing space on the supermarket floor, the family brought in truckloads of liquidation inventory and found success with its customers.

While Foodland has closed, the family has been able to open three Planet Overstock locations in St. Louis, Collinsville, Ill., and Festus.

Miller said he operates the stores with the help of his grandfather, aunt, uncle, sister, best friend, father and mother, who works on a part-time basis.

“Literally, about 50 percent of my family works in the company,” he said.

Miller said Eureka was a great town to open a Planet Overstock store, especially with its proximity to I-44.

“I really love this city,” he said. “I have really fond memories of going to Six Flags and just being around that community. The people have always been really nice and I just thought it was the perfect spot for us.”

The Eureka location will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Miller said he plans to hire three to four employees for the store.
