The Pevely Board of Aldermen will resume holding two meetings a month beginning Monday, March 15.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Pevely City Hall, 401 Main St.

In January and February, board members met only on the first Monday of the month, forgoing their normal meeting on the third Monday due to COVID-19 pandemic concerns.

However, the board voted 6-1 March 1 to return to its twice-a-month meeting schedule.

Ward 3 Alderman Don Menkhus, who voted against returning to two meetings a month, had made the motion in December to hold just one meeting a month for the first quarter of 2021. It passed by a 5-1 vote, with Ward 2 Alderman Ryan Tucker casting the only no vote.

On March 1, Menkhus said he thinks it’s too early to resume two meetings per month.

“I just got my first (COVID shot). I’d like to see more people get the shots,” he said.

Ward 1 Alderman Steve Markus said he made the motion to return to two meetings a month to see how board members felt about the matter.

“I introduced it to have a discussion,” he said. “They agreed to have two a month. I think there are enough people now who are wearing the masks and have had the vaccinations.”
