A part of Miller Road in House Springs will be closed for most of June beginning tomorrow while crews from the Jefferson County Highway Division repair damage caused by the recent flooding.
“The roadway requires major repairs as a result of damage incurred from the early May heavy rainfall and flooding,” Public Works Director Jason Jonas said in a release.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday (June 5) on the 1,000-foot portion between Hwy. MM and Sycamore Springs Spur and is estimated to last through June 30.
According to the release, the flash flooding in the area caused the road to settle significantly, and the slope has begun to fail. Crews will remove the faulty material and replace it with rock fill.
The project is estimated to cost $50,000, and will be paid for through the county’s share of a half-cent sales tax for road and bridge improvements.
About 800 vehicles per day travel that stretch of road.
