The Wildwood Historic Preservation Commission is inviting community members to an open house on Thursday, July 24, to share information and get feedback about the city’s first Historic Preservation Plan. The event will be from 5:30-7 p.m. at Wildwood City Hall, 16860 Main St.
The plan will guide how the city will recognize and maintain the historical elements of Wildwood, including long-standing community landmarks and the Route 66 corridor, city officials said.
Paula Vasan, the city’s Communications and Economic Development manager, said the open house is a key step in the planning process.
“Community input is essential to identifying and prioritizing historical assets, from places and structures to stories and cultural themes, that reflect the city’s identity and values,” she said.
MIG, the city's planning consultant, will give a presentation at 5:45 p.m. and will offer an overview of the plan and its purpose.
Also at the event, Singers Ice Cream will serve free scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream while supplies last.
Vasan said the city also is conducting a series of smaller group discussions throughout the month to gather deeper feedback from a cross section of residents and stakeholders.
“These efforts are part of a broader public engagement process to ensure the preservation plan is informed by a wide range of community perspectives,” she said.
