The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a virtual meeting Wednesday (Sept. 22) to get feedback from the public about potential upgrades to I-55 from the Hwy. Z interchange at Pevely to the Hwy. 67 interchange south of Festus.
To register to participate, go to bit.ly/I55register.
“Right now, we don’t know what (the upgrades) are going to be,” MoDOT spokeswoman Charlene Goston said Sept. 16. “We’re at the beginning stage and are looking for input from the public.”
A $112 million project to add a third lane on I-55 between highways Z and 67 has been approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission and has been included in the 2022 state Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) to be considered by the East-West Gateway Coordinating Council of Governments, which coordinates road projects in the St. Louis region.
The council is taking public comments on the TIP through Oct. 11.
If the I-55 project stays in the TIP, construction on the project is scheduled for 2024, with preliminary work done in 2023.
Those not able to attend the virtual meeting may visit Pevely City Hall, 401 Main St., between Sept. 23 and Sept. 29 to view informational boards.
