The Antonia Fire Protection District is inviting the community to say goodbye to Capt. Mike Matzker, who is retiring after more than 40 years with the district.
A send-off event for Matzker will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, April 3, at House 2, 6633 Moss Hollow Road, in Barnhart, Deputy Chief Bobby Chrisco said.
Matzker started as a volunteer in 1982 and has been a full-time employe since 1996, according to the district.
He said his final day at work will be Sunday, April 2, and he will officially retire from Antonia Fire on Oct. 12.
