Kimmswick aldermen recently appointed Kenny Kraft to fill a vacancy on its board, replacing Gary Ridings, who resigned.

The board voted 3-0 on Nov. 14 to appoint Kraft to the board. He will represent the city’s Ward 2.

Mayor Phil Stang said he nominated Kraft because he had expressed interest in running for a seat on the board in the April 4, 2023, election.

“He’s a person with a lot of energy and is desirous of being on the board, so I selected him,” Stang said.

He said Ridings resigned from the board on Nov. 9 because he moved out of town.

“He resigned to me,” Stang said. “I accepted it.”

Kraft, 42, lives in the city with his wife, Jennifer, and their three daughters.

Kraft said he never before served on a public board but has been active in Kimmswick activities.

“I’ve volunteered for the festivals and other events,” he said. “They were needing to fill a position and I had already planned to run.

“We’re such a small town. If you volunteer for some things, why not help out the community?”

Kraft said he owns his own business.
