For those seeking a first job, a new job or a whole new career, there will be plenty to see and do at the Jefferson County Job Fair, returning to an in-person format after a year off due to COVID-19.
The free event is set for 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Fox C-6 Service Center, 849 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. A variety of businesses will have representatives on hand to talk with prospective employees, take resumes and answer questions.
“It’s a great way to make the connection between those looking to hire and those seeking employment,” Leader publisher Pam LaPlant said. “And we have lots of resources for job seekers, too.”
Resume specialists from Jefferson College will review participants’ resumes and offer suggestions for cover letters and help with interview skills and more.
A professional photographer will be on hand to take photos of job seekers for use on social media or with resumes.
Attendees also will have the chance to register for attendance prizes and drawings.
Assistant publisher Peggy Scott said getting the word out about the event is vital.
“We are encouraging vendors to share Job Fair posts on their social media, and we are planning a ‘How to attend a job fair’ tutorial on our own website,” she said. “Members of the Arnold Chamber of Commerce get a $50 discount on their booth fee.”
The fair will once again be sponsored by five local entities: Leader Publications, the city of Arnold, the Arnold Chamber of Commerce, the Fox C-6 School District and Jefferson College.
A special section will be published in the Eureka Leader on Aug. 5 and in the other three editions of the Leader on Aug. 12, with detailed information about activities the day of the fair, schedules and profiles of some of the participants.
