Jefferson College soon will have a new electronic scoreboard for its baseball field.

The college’s Board of Trustees voted 4-0 Feb. 10 to pay Nevco Sports in Greenville, Ill., $19,223.28 for the new scoreboard. The company submitted the lowest of three bids for the scoreboard.

Darryl Gehbauer, Jefferson College vice president of finances and administration, said the scoreboard is expected to be installed at the Viking field sometime this baseball season, which began this month.

Gehbauer said the field’s current scoreboard is at least 20 years old and has multiple problems that no longer can be repaired.

“It’s no longer operational,” Gehbauer said.

Board members Gary Davis and Margie Passmore did not attend the Feb. 10 meeting.
