Jefferson County has seen three more COVID-19-related deaths, according to the Jefferson County Health Department.

The deaths were reported to the department during the week of Jan. 28, bringing the total number of COVID deaths to 31 this respiratory season, which began Oct. 1 and runs through mid-May., the Health Department reported.

Jefferson County has had one flu-related death this respiratory season. That death was reported the week of Jan. 7, according to the department.

From Oct. 1 to Feb. 3, 4,693 COVID cases were reported in the county. During the same period, 890 flu cases were reported, with 604 Type A cases and 286 Type B cases, the Health Department reported.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone 6 months and older get the updated COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the potentially serious outcomes of the illness.

In addition, the CDC recommends a flu shot each season for anyone 6 months and older.
