Influence Church will hold a variety of activities to celebrate Easter Day on Sunday, April 17.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at and around the church’s Festus campus, 125 E. Main St.
As part of the festivities, the church received permission from the Festus City Council to close the section of Main Street from Mill Street to North Adams Street from 3-7 p.m. when activities will be held in the street.
The church events begin at 5 p.m., including an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter bunny. There also will be bounce houses, prizes and music.
“We’ll have a stage and live music,” said Scott Gerken, Influence Church executive pastor and Festus campus pastor. “There will be an Easter Egg hunt in the street. We’ll have something like 15,000 eggs. There will be redeemable prize tickets in some eggs. Everybody gets candy.”
He said Influence Church wanted to hold similar Easter Day festivities before, but those plans were derailed by the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Gerken said the church is encouraging neighboring businesses to participate in the Easter Day celebration.
“We hope the businesses on Main Street will open up and be a part of it,” he said.
Gerken said the Influence Church in Festus also is seeking volunteers to help with community betterment projects on Saturday, April 23.
“We’ll meet at the Festus campus at 9 a.m. for a service day of projects throughout the day,” Gerken said. “We’re getting a lot of information from the Festus Parks and Recreation Department for different projects to improve the parks of the city.”
He said those interested in the Easter activities or the community service day are encouraged to register at
