A new Smoothie King is slated to open at 1272 Jeffco Blvd. in Arnold at 8 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, said co-owner Brandon Long.

He said smoothies will be sold at a discount on opening day.

It will be the second Smoothie King in Jefferson County. Another one opened in Festus last fall.

Long, 41, of Wentzville said he and his wife, Lisa Long, 45, and Jeff Gulick, 37, of Fulton, own three other Smoothie Kings, including ones in Wentzville, Washington and Lake St. Louis.

“I don’t want to say we are automatic at this point, but there were not a lot of hassles or issues,” said Brandon Long, who, along with Gulick, is a Navy veteran. “It has probably been the smoothest to open of the four so far.”

Long said he and his partners decided to come to Arnold because of his and his wife’s connection to the city.

“Both sides of our family live in Arnold,” he said. “I lived in Arnold a couple of years after getting out of the Navy. We know the area and know people there. We have resources there at our disposal that we wouldn’t potentially have at another location.”

The Smoothie King is part of a small retail complex that also includes a Jimmy John’s restaurant, Cold Stone Creamery ice cream store and Verizon wireless phone store.

“We like the location because of the visibility and being in the part of town that is a commercial area near Hwy. 141. That is why we chose that spot,” Long said.

He said his group expects to hire 20 to 25 employees and sell between 250 and 300 smoothies a day.

Long said there is not a drive-through at the Arnold location, but customers can still be served in their vehicles.

“We offer online ordering,” he said. “You can go to our website, order, and we will have curbside service to pick up an order.”
