Hillsboro Primary School Principal Lee Ann Wallace has been hired as the new superintendent of the Kingston K-14 School District in Washington County.

Wallace will begin her new job July 1, replacing Alex McCaul, who will become superintendent of the Potosi R-3 School District.

“I am honored and humbled to be selected as the next superintendent of the Kingston K-14 School District,” Wallace said. “I would like to thank the Kingston Board of Education for putting their trust and faith in me.

“I am grateful to all who have helped prepare me to serve this already wonderful school district. I am committed to meeting and working with parents, students, staff, patrons, our school board and community leaders in an effort to begin learning more ways we can collaboratively continue to enhance our school district.”

Wallace, 51, was chosen out of 14 applicants.

She said she currently is paid about $102,200 a year as the Hillsboro Primary principal, and her pay will increase to about $127,000 as the Kingston superintendent.

Wallace said she has enjoyed working in the Hillsboro R-3 School District.

“I’ve absolutely loved my three years where I’ve served the Hillsboro School District, and I’m really looking forward to getting to meet everyone in the Kingston School District,” she said.

Wallace also was a building administrator for 13 years in the Hayti R-2 School District after teaching in the Portageville School District for 11 years.

“Dr. Wallace brings with her an incredible amount of experience and skills to carry forward the vision and goals of our district,” said Lee Patterson, the Kingston Board of Education president. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Wallace and we are eager for her to begin working with, and getting to know, the incredible staff, students and Kingston community.”

Wallace earned a bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in 1992, a master’s in educational leadership and administration from Southeast Missouri State University in 2001 and a doctorate of education in educational leadership and administration from St. Louis University in 2015.

Wallace and her husband, Lee, live in St. Louis and have three grown children.
