Several Jefferson County churches and organizations will provide Thanksgiving meals to people in need or those who want to socialize with others for the holiday dinner.
The meals generally consist of traditional Thanksgiving fare, like turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and pie.
All the meals are free, although donations are welcome at some of them.
Some organizations also will deliver meals to those who are homebound.
One organization will not hold a dinner, but will deliver Thanksgiving meals to local residents in the Festus area.
■ The Jefferson County Rescue Mission will serve Thanksgiving meals from noon to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at its building, 8943 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely.
Families seeking fellowship who cannot afford a meal are welcome.
■ First Baptist Church of De Soto, 2000 Grace Way, will offer a Thanksgiving dinner at the church from noon to 2 p.m., Nov. 28.
The church also will deliver meals within De Soto city limits. Call the church between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 636-586-2500 to schedule a delivery. Carryouts also are available.
■ A covered-dish, potluck Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the C.I.A. (Community Improvement Association) Hall, 13468 Hwy. JJ, southeast of De Soto.
Turkey and dressing and chicken and dumplings will be served. Donations are welcome.

■ Faith Baptist Church in Festus will deliver meals on Thanksgiving to those who live in the 63028 ZIP code. The deadline to make a reservation to have a meal delivered is noon on Nov. 22. Call 636-937-9260 to sign up.
■ Windsor Baptist Church, 6701 Hwy. 61-67, in Imperial will hold its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 28 at the church.

■ High Ridge Rotary Club will hold its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Nov. 28 at the High Ridge Fire Protection District headquarters, 2842 High Ridge Blvd.
Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
