Ready to sample some mouth-watering dishes submitted by local cooks and prepared by professional chefs? Grab a ticket to the second annual Leader Holiday Dinner, set for Friday, Nov. 7, at the Viking Cafe at Jefferson College in Hillsboro.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $25 per person and include a six-course dinner with beverage and dessert and a recipe book of the dishes served. There will be food demonstrations by college culinary students and background music by the Jefferson College Jazz Combo. The event is sponsored by Leader Publications and the Jefferson College Foundation.

One recipe in each of five categories – appetizer, soup, salad, side dish and dessert – will be chosen from among the entries submitted to the Leader’s annual recipe contest. The five finalist dishes, along with a main dish, will be prepared and served by professional chefs and Jefferson College staff. Diners will sample each dish and vote for their favorite.

The winner will receive $300; each of the four finalists will receive $50. Proceeds from the event go to the Jefferson College Foundation.

Last year’s event raised about $3,000, which was used to help send students in the college’s Area Technical School programs to SkillsUSA competitions in several fields, including culinary.
