At the 30th annual Hillsboro Homecoming and Festival set for this weekend, longtime event volunteer Wayne Wiley will be remembered. He died May 9 at 82.

The event will be held Friday and Saturday, May 20-21, along and around Main Street in downtown Hillsboro.

“At the Armed Forces Day Ceremony (on Saturday), we’re honoring Wayne Wiley and his family,” said Mandy Alley, administrator for the Greater Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the festival. “He was the coordinator of the Armed Forces Day Ceremony for 15 years. He was a board member of the Hillsboro Chamber for the last 30 years. He helped with the festival the last 30 years. He was kind of our rock at the chamber.”

The theme of the festival is “I Love the ‘80s!”

As usual, the event will include a parade, carnival rides, games and live music.

Musical performances will take place on the main stage across from the Jefferson County Courthouse, 300 Main St., Hillsboro.
