Hwy. W in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka will reopen to traffic today, June 4, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
MoDOT said in a written statement that maintenance crews plan to reopen the highway by 3 p.m.
“Weather permitting, crews are repairing the guardrail in this portion of Hwy. W, and the road will be fully reopened to the traveling public today,” the statement read. “The Missouri Department of Transportation maintenance crews have been working to repair the roadway since it closed on April 9 due to severe flood damage.”
The department announced in late May that construction crews were working on the section of road to repair damage caused by a large rockslide, after a geotechnical study was completed earlier in the month to determine the extent of the damage. Officials believe the slide was due to flooding and heavy rains in early April.
