Larry Boyce of Arnold in 1967, left, during basic training. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in July 1967, shipped out to Vietnam in November 1967, received a Purple Heart after he was wounded in March 1968 and was discharged in July 1969. He took part in an Honor Flight in August 2017.

Entries are now being accepted for Leader Publications’ Salute to Veterans tribute, which will run in the Nov. 12 issue of the paper.

Veterans and current service members are encouraged to share stories and photos from their time in any branch of the military, any era, wartime or peacetime, living or deceased. The veterans’ family members and friends also may submit the stories and photos.

Those featured in former years are welcome to submit again, but please tell different stories and provide different photographs.

Deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4. The paper will publish as many photos and stories as space allows, with priority given to first-time submitters. The remaining photos and stories may appear on the Leader website.

You must include your name and phone number for your submission to be eligible for publication.

■ Photos may be submitted in either print or digital form. “Then” and “now” photos are especially welcome.

■ Identify the people in the photograph and give the date when it was taken, if known.

■ Include the service person’s hometown and year of birth

■ Provide the military branch and years served, plus any details about foreign or domestic posts, specialties or training.

■ Add details – funny stories, sad stories, romantic stories, heroic stories.

Just call to arrange a time to bring the photo to the Leader office at 503 N. Second St. in Festus. Physical photos that include a self-addressed, stamped envelope will be mailed back after processing; others will be held for pickup.
