A Gordmans store opened Thursday (July 17) in the Arnold Crossroads retail complex at Hwy. 141 and Jeffco Boulevard, the company announced in a written statement.
The approximately 50,000-square-foot store, 235 Arnold Crossroads, is at the west end of the complex in part of the space where a Kmart store used to operate.
It is next to Northern Tool and Equipment.
Gordmans has hired about 90 people to work there and plans to hire more after Aug. 1, a company spokesman said.
The store manager is Suzette Wilson.
Gordmans had a soft opening July 17. It will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday, July 25, when the store will present a $2,500 donation to the Fox School District for Guffey Elementary School. The donation is part of the company’s Partners in Education program.
Gordmans also will invite guests to donate $1 as part of the program, and the proceeds will benefit the school.
“Since its involvement with Partners in Education, which began in 2000, Gordmans has contributed more than $1 million to public school systems in markets where Gordmans has stores,” the company reported.
Grand-opening festivities will continue through July 27, with giveaways, special buys and drawings for gift cards.
The Arnold store includes a Gordmans Giggles children’s theater and Gordmans Grandstand – a sports-themed TV-viewing area.
The store sells clothing and home décor.
Gordmans, based in Nebraska, was founded in 1915 and has 97 stores across 20 states. This is Jefferson County’s first store, although Gordmans has a store in Fenton, in St. Louis County.
