Janet Groom plans to open her Wayside gas station and convenience store in Eureka in May. The new store will feature a walk-in “beer cave.”

A new BP gas station and convenience store named Wayside will open soon at 5150 Hwy. 109 in the Jefferson County portion of Eureka.

Owner Janet Groom, 52, of Villa Ridge said the business will open in May, although as of Monday, she had not picked an exact opening date.

Groom said the station will offer “fast, friendly service” and a “homey atmosphere.”

She said free coffee, chicken and pizza samples will be offered on opening day.

Groom, who owns two other gas stations, said she is excited about opening the 5,000-square-foot location in Eureka.

“It’s always nice to have regular customers who come back and establish a rapport,” she said.

Groom said the station will have 34 fountain drink options and coffee, including cappuccino, cold brew and frappuccinos.

She also will sell Champs Chicken and Hangar 54 Pizza, which has a garlic butter crust. Other grab-and-go hot food items include fried fish.

Groom said the new station will also have a walk-in “beer cave.”

The station will have 16 gas pumps with eight of the pumps offering diesel fuel.

Groom said she will hire 20 to 25 people to work at the business.

She said her family has owned gas stations since 1984.

Groom’s other gas stations are located in Catawissa and Villa Ridge.
