The Rocktober music festival scheduled for Friday and Saturday (Oct. 10-11) has been moved from West City Park in Festus to the Crystal City Underground because of stormy weather forecasts, organizers announced today (Oct. 9).
Festival times will be the same: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
However, a $2 admission fee will be charged now. No entry fee would have been charged if it had been held at the Festus park.
The event is sponsored by Friends of the Festus Parks and the Festus Tourism Commission and is a fundraiser to benefit the city’s parks.
“We were going to sell beer to raise money, but our liquor license was only good for West City Park,” Friends of the Festus Parks spokeswoman Michelle Guidicy said. “We’ll now use the entrance fee to raise money for future events at the parks.”
Texas Roadhouse will sell food and Crystal City Underground will sell drinks, she said.
Kung-Fu Caveman and Stone in Love (a Journey tribute band), both rock acts, are scheduled to perform on Friday. Soul Punch and Small Shack (a Nashville band featuring Herculaneum native Robin Guidicy), also rock groups, are to play on Saturday.
Crystal City Underground, the new location for the music festival, is inside a cave at 700 Crystal City Avenue, just outside the Crystal City limits.
