Festus Pasta House sign

A sign has been placed at the site along Hwy. A in the west part of Festus where a Pasta House restaurant is slated to be built.

A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, to mark the start of construction on a Pasta House restaurant to be built along Hwy. A on the west side of Festus.

The restaurant is slated to open late next spring, said developer Don Bolinger of Festus this morning (Jan. 17).

He and his wife, Rhiannon Bolinger, plan to build the restaurant next to their existing business, ATG Sports, on Galemore Street near Pounds Road.

Originally, the developers said they wanted to open in November 2013, but architectural design delays postponed the start of the work, Don Bolinger said.

“The construction should start by the end of the month,” he said. “We now hope to be open by June 1.”

The Bolingers plan for their Pasta House building to be approximately 5,600 square feet and seat 200 people. Of the 200 seats, about 50 will be in a full-service lounge and another 60 in a private meeting/banquet room.

Bolinger said the menu will offer the standard Pasta House Italian dishes, including some low-calorie and gluten-free items.

The Bolingers are co-owners of a Pasta House restaurant in Union, as well as ATG Sports, a company that sells and installs RamTurf, a type of artificial turf for athletic fields.

In case of inclement whether, the Bolingers may postpone the groundbreaking for the new Pasta House, a franchise that’s part of the St. Louis-area chain of restaurants that includes both company-owned restaurants and franchises that are independently owned and operated.
