Pevely voters won’t face a lot of choices in the April 4 election when it comes to filling seats in their city government.
Mayor Stephanie Haas faces no opposition in her bid for a fourth four-year term.
The Ward 1 seat on the Board of Aldermen has a race as Marlene Freeman is challenging incumbent Steve Markus.
Markus did not return a Leader candidate questionnaire.
Incumbent Rick Yount (Ward 2) is being challenged by registered write-in candidate David Bewig.
Yount was appointed to the board in 2019 to fill a vacancy and ran unopposed for the position in 2021.
Bewig was impeached by the board and removed from his aldermanic seat in December 2015.
Ward 3 incumbent Donald Menkus is running unopposed.
In Ward 4, Bryan Eckles, who was appointed after no candidates ran for the seat in 2021, chose not to run for another two-year term and again, no other candidates came forward, so all write-in candidates will be counted. If no winner emerges from the election, the board will have to appoint another Ward 4 representative.
The mayor is paid $275 per month and aldermen receive $150 per month.
