Residents near Kimmswick may have heard a loud boom and felt shaking Tuesday night, Dec. 6.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a magnitude 2.5 earthquake was detected at about 8:30 p.m. approximately 2 miles east of Kimmswick.

Jina Akins, assistant director at the Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management, said the department had not received reports of damage caused by the earthquake as of this morning, Dec. 7.

According to the USGS website this morning, 243 people had reported that they felt the earthquake.
