Windsor High teacher and coach Alex DeMatteis has been promoted to assistant principal at the school.

DeMatteis, 39, of Oakville has replaced Stephanie Klippert, who resigned so she could relocate to Tennessee.

DeMatteis, who has worked as a social studies teacher and football head coach at Windsor High School since 2017, will be paid a $70,000 annual salary as assistant principal. He had been earning $56,813 as a teacher and coach, Windsor assistant superintendent Jeff Buscher said.

Klippert was paid a $73,703.94 annual salary before she left, Buscher said.

The Windsor C-1 Board of Education voted in May to promote DeMatteis to the assistant principal job.

DeMatteis said he enjoyed coaching, but after graduating this year with a doctorate in educational leadership from Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis County, he felt it was time to make a move.

In June, the board promoted assistant football coach Jeff Funston to head coach to replace DeMatteis.
